Steve Bannon, who was recently appointed to the National Security Council, believes the United States will go to war with China in the next few years.
Top political advisor to Donald Trump and former Breitbart News owner, Steve Bannon, was recently given a seat on the National Security Council much to the concern of Democratic and Republican officials, as it is a conflict of interest.
Bannon’s belief that the United States and China will be at war in the next few years which, paired with the fact that Donald Trump regularly goes after China on social media, is more than a little unnerving.
In March of 2016, Steve Bannon said that:
‘The far-right figure, who has been given unprecedented power in the White House and has suggested in the past that he supports white supremacy, suggested that the two countries are headed towards war over the South China Sea.’
‘We’re going to war in the South China Sea in 5 to 10 years, aren’t we? There’s no doubt about that. They’re taking their sandbars and making basically stationary aircraft carriers and putting missiles on those. They come here to the United States in front of our face — and you understand how important face is — and say it’s an ancient territorial sea.’
Steve Bannon once told The Daily Beast that he is like Lenin.
‘Lenin wanted to destroy the state and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment. I’m a Leninist.’
If that weren’t already disturbing enough, this man is President Donald Trump’s right-hand man and top adviser.
A Chinese military official, from the Commission’s Defense Mobilization Department, was quoted in the South China Morning Post as saying:
‘A war “within the president’s term” or “war breaking out tonight” are not just slogans, they are becoming a practical reality.’
There have been increased tensions in recent years between China, the United States, and Japan, among other countries, over a dispute about who owns a portion of the Pacific Ocean.
With Bannon at the helm of the ship, we should all be worried about the very real potential for a world war 3.
