Congressman Says Trump’s Syria Strike Is Just Cover For Lifting Russia Sanctions – Anti Media News

A Democratic member of Congress just used his Facebook page to ask President Donald Trump if he was just using all the drama they created over Syria and the attack on Syria to cover for pre-planned lifting of sanctions on Russia. This is a definite possibility considering the shady business dealings related to Russian oil, Russian Sanctions, and Trump’s buddy, Carter Page.

Resistance Report reported Rep. Jared Huffman (D-California) called Trump’s bluff in a Facebook post on Friday afternoon, alleging that given Trump’s past positions on foreign intervention, the President may be attempting to distract the country from his intent to roll back sanctions his predecessor levied on Russia. Rep. Huffman pointed out that Trump has sharply opposed meddling in Syria during the Obama administration, and that his sudden change of heart was necessary in order to mask an ulterior motive:

Was it the images of dying Syrian babies, even though you ignored prior images of dying Syrian babies and all of the dying African babies? Was it politics – perhaps your historically low poll numbers and complete lack of accomplishment in your first 11 weeks as President? Was it the fact that oil prices will now magically go up, a boon to your fossil fuel cronies? Or was it something else – a head fake vis-à-vis Russia in advance of Tillerson’s trip, to provide cover for the sanctions relief your team has been pursuing ever since before the election?

The NY Times reported on the Trump Administration’s plans to end the 2014 sanctions former President Barack Obama placed on the Russian Federation after Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine and annex the Crimean peninsula.

It’s been reported that disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn discussed ending the sanctions in a phone call with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak after Trump was elected, but prior to his inauguration, when Obama was still in office. And Secretary of State Rex Tillerson — the former CEO of oil giant ExxonMobil — was in talks with Russia about a $500 billion dollar oil exploration contract prior to accepting the job as America’s top diplomat. Should the sanctions be lifted, Tillerson’s former employer would stand to profit significantly.

Do you think This whole fiasco is mainly just to cover for keeping promises between businessmen like the Congressman suggests? Or is the Trump administration just selectively outraged at this particular attack, while they don’t bat an eye at killing over 1000 civilians just in March?
